An entropion is an anomaly of the eyelids that consists of lid tissues rolling back on the inside. Both the top and bottom eye lid can be affected and sometimes both at the same time.

Are there predisposed breeds?
Yes, the Persian is part of them.
What are the clinical signs?
Eye issues and clinical signs can appear quite quickly. The roll-in of the eyelids produce rubbing of the eyelashes and/or the hair on the cornea and the conjunctiva of the eye. This creates painful irritations on the corneal tissues. The pain produces a spasm of the eyelid which tends to close further so the roll-in increases further: a vicious circle has begun.
Is there a treatment?
It is surgical and consists of tightening the eyelid in order for it to no longer be able to roll towards the inside.
